Hello friends,

this post is dedicated to my collaboration with the London based fashion illustrator Spiros Halaris.

The collaboration consist in a piece made mixing our styles.

Spiros was in charged to illustrate these beautiful models and i was in charge of the birds.

when both parts were done, we started generating different compositions with the same elements ...

the result was very nice and enriching for us.

Different versions of the same illustration. a little series of four.

we had the opportunity to work in the same project, just for fun.

Ideas, proposals and creativity flowed between us.

Esta entrada está dedicada a mi colaboración con Spiros Halaris (illustrador de moda radicado en Londres).

La colaboración consistió en la realización de una pieza, mezclando nuestros estilos.

Spiros fué el encargado de dibujar a las bellas modelos, mientras que yo me encargué de las aves.

... Entonces, cuando ambos tuvimos lista nuestra parte,

comenzamos a generar diferentes composiciones con los mismos elementos.

Pienso que el resultado fué divertido y enriquecedor para ambos.

Hello Guys!!!

This post is to announce how proud I’m of being selected to be part of Martin Dawber's upcoming book.

The editions name is “GREAT BIG BOOK OF FASHION ILLUSTRATION" and will be released various languages and distributed world wide by Anova books (UK).

This volume contains an incredible selection of the best 300 fashion illustrators around the world, and more than 1000 images.

Special mention to Mr. Dawber who i have had the pleasure to chat with via e-mail since this last year, and is, for me, an incredible person: caring, responsible, with a special sensitivity… surely many of you would remember him as the author of many excellent books such as “"new fashion illustration", "new fashion print", "the big book of fashion illustration" o "new illustration with type"… to name a few.

I will end this post telling you how flattered i feel, of having my illustration “Lady Ice creme” selected as the cover of this wonderful book, which will for sure, become a new reference in fashion illustration field.

Picturalis project

Hello to everyone! this was a recent project developed for the french site picturalis. They found my portfolio on the site ultra-book , then they sent me a message with a nice proposal.

The piece was recently published at www.picturalis.fr with a little interview in french...

It was very fun and nice to do and i used a vintage picture of my mom.

"I looked for inspiration in old family pictures and managed to establish a connection between traditional and modern. Concept was about from names and moments, geometric and organic shapes, perhaps for the first time in a long time. I think with this kind of experiments where creativity is allowed to flow without defined technical standards, we find ourselves and get good results "

This is one of my latest pieces, inspired in a self portrait of my friend Carla Tofano.

I spent few days imagining which could be the right environment to her illustration...

then, i had an idea based in her personality and i decided to use cats and butterflies... recurring elements in my drawings, but with a different touch, close to sketches lines and strong expression, combined with a soft airbrush treatment to represent her face.

It was a very nice experience, because i had the chance to reconnect with old techniques not used since long time ago...

I believe, the result has been interesting and i will keep testing with other experimental pieces, based in other themes.

This is a commissioned project for Gavroche (Andorra-Paris).

the illustration was inspired in a classic Jean-Luc Godard's film, called "A bout the suflee" or "Breathless" (1960)- starring by Jean Paul Belmondo as "Michel".

"A bout the suflee" is a French romantic crime drama film co-written (with François Truffaut) and directed by Jean-Luc Godard, and it's his first feature film.

after a long time with no internet,
i'm back.

i want to show a part of my new series at this time.
they are 2 untitled original watercolor pieces on paper. they are about 35x27 cm (the cold one) and 46x27 cm (the fire one)-

They were intended as quick fashion illustration sketches.
it was an idea that i have long time ago, remembering my old days at design school.
I used to worship with watercolor painting!!!
...then i took the brushes and i did those artworks following my own instincts.

it was very fun and quick.
I wanted to convey that sense of freedom that i feel on this period... a period full of personal changes and ideal for getting other forms of expression.

FRAMING TIME! Rozz Williams tribute.

This special-unique and rare piece is dedicated to ROZZ WILLIAMS (rip), who was a great musician. He was inspiration and influence for me in my early years. this work is from that period. The model was Gitane Demone, a good friend of Rozz and part of the Christian Death line up around 1985.

i just decided framing it as a kind of second tribute, because I thought that it should be part of the "muse's" catalogue.

the frame is an antique, restored by myself. It give a particular and singular touch to this piece.

the measurements are:

23x15 cm (unframed)

43x37 cm (framed)

Technique: Acrylic on paper.

Belio magazine is in my opinion, the best art magazine in Spain.

they are really nice people with more than 10 years editing magazines, books, and other nice stuff in collaboration with top illustrators, photographers and graphic designers.

it was one of my first collaborations in Europe

(around 2 years ago... i think...)

“MUSES”

“Muses” is the first Robert Tirado’s solo show at Valencia Spain. This exhibition is composed of a variety of the artist artworks made during the last two years, using as a main theme the female figure and his beauty.

The catalogue of this sample is composed by original illustrations on canvas or paper, original paintings and digital illustrations, using different styles and various techniques, coming closer to the fine arts or fashion illustration, complemented with materials such like limited edition glicleé prints, post cards and book markers where will be shown some of the unpublished and experimental artworks of the artist.

Robert Tirado is a Venezuelan graphic artist and illustrator that combines manual and digital illustration with graphic design and painting in one only project; Inspired in the female beauty and photography, influenced by music, art , the geometry and the fashion world.

His works has been published in important press and digital magazines in America and Europe, also has worked with music bands, fashion magazines, brands and independent producers.

His ilustrations has been used on web pages, accessories, walls, vinyls, clothing and laptop skins.

Robert Tirado has participated in important art exhibitions in

galleries and alternative spaces in America and Europe and his artworks has been acquired by many different art collectors in UK, Italy and USA.

Gallery Nucleus (Alhambra, California) brings tribute to fashion illustration with “Line of Style: Fashion Illustration Spanning the Globe” exhibition (april 3 - april 26, 2010) the first of its kind for the mentioned art venue. “We are pleased to showcase the ever expanding world of fashion illustration that represents the latest trends of our time and captivates the greatest styles that will last forever.”

The 21 featured artists including renowned as well as rising talents in fashion illustration have worked with big fashion houses such as Dior, Jean-Paul Gaultier or Marc Jacobs and have been published in the glossy pages of Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Elle, Nylon and many other hip magazines. Candy Coated Canvas is a themed group exhibition showcasing unique artworks by various established and emerging international talent.All artists have been asked to take inspiration from the title “Candy Coated Canvas” and create a unique art piece which is visually extremely colourful and playful, whilst sparking up memories of childhood, sweets, and fantasy lands. The exhibition aims to showcase a range of artists in a themed environment, to create a highly memorable experience for the viewer, that can visually please and feed their imagination with colour and wild worlds of candy.

This eye catching exhibition will open Friday July 24, 2009 from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. The reception will showcase the complete exhibition and a pink champagne & cupcake reception served by female hostesses dressed in the Candy Coated Theme. The London Miles Gallery will be visually transformed in to a creative and sweet wonderland for
